Kanethic – Invest With Discipline

Mutual Funds

Invest in mutual funds with clarity and discipline.

We help you invest in mutual funds with clarity and discipline: we explain schemes of leading fund houses, their costs and risks, complete your paperwork, and keep you informed through statements and reminders.

What is it?

A mutual fund pools money from many investors and invests it in shares, bonds or a mix of both, managed by a professional fund manager under SEBI regulations.

As an AMFI-registered mutual fund distributor, we help you understand schemes of fund houses, complete KYC and paperwork, set up SIPs, and track your holdings over time.

Who can invest?

  • Resident individuals, including minors through a guardian
  • HUFs, companies, trusts, partnership firms and other eligible entities
  • NRIs, subject to KYC, FATCA and fund-house acceptance
  • Anyone who has completed KYC and can invest from a bank account in their own name

Key things to know

  • We deal in Regular Plans only and earn a trailing commission from the fund house; this is disclosed to you at the time of investing.
  • A Direct Plan option exists with a lower expense ratio; we do not deal in Direct Plans.
  • Check the exit load and total expense ratio (TER) of a scheme before you invest.
  • Past performance of a scheme may or may not be sustained in future; there is no assurance of returns.

Frequently asked questions

What is a SIP and why do families prefer it?

A Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) invests a fixed amount at regular intervals, usually monthly. It builds the habit of investing, spreads your purchases across market cycles and does not depend on timing the market.

Do I need a large amount to start?

No. Many schemes accept SIPs from a small monthly amount. Larger families and HNI investors can also invest lumpsum amounts and use STP to move money gradually into equity schemes.

What is the difference between Regular and Direct plans?

A Regular Plan is bought through a distributor, who earns a trailing commission paid from the scheme’s expenses. A Direct Plan is bought directly from the fund house and has a lower expense ratio. We deal in Regular Plans only and disclose our commission at the time of investing.

Are mutual funds safe?

Mutual fund investments are subject to market risks. The value of your investment can go up or down, and schemes do not assure or guarantee returns. Choosing a scheme that suits your time horizon and reading the scheme documents carefully helps you manage that risk.

How are mutual fund gains taxed?

Taxation depends on the type of scheme, your holding period and prevailing tax rules, which change from time to time. Please confirm your own position with a qualified tax professional.

Can NRIs invest in mutual funds in India?

Yes, subject to KYC, FATCA and fund-house eligibility rules. Please see our NRI Investing page, or speak to us for the current position.
